HEY THERE
I’m Bree!
OWNER
Bree McQueen, Bridal Seamstress
Very few people can buy a dress that fits perfectly off the rack. Most of us have to get things altered and tailored in order for a garment to fit properly. That’s where I come in!
As an experienced and highly trained seamstress, I've been sewing my whole life and have worked in the Bridal and tailoring industry professionally for nearly 15 years.
In bigger dress stores or tailoring studios, there’s often someone different touching your dress at different points of the alteration process.
From one person doing the pinning during your consultation to someone else doing the sewing and yet another checking the fit at your follow up appointment, you get passed around.
This leads to things getting missed or forgotten. But when you get a dress altered with me, I’m the only one who will be working with you.
From start to finish, you can be confident that your concerns and needs will be listened to and that your dress will be perfectly tailored!
MORE ON ME
I can’t wait to work with you!
Hi, I'm Bree (she/her). Owner of Alterations by Bree McQueen. I come from a line of hobby sewers on both sides of my family, however, I’m the first in the family to make it a career. My Nana actually made my mom’s wedding gown and her mother of the bride dress back in 1983!
I studied Fashion Arts at Seneca College and graduated from their three year program with honours in 2002. While there, I also completed another program focusing on body modification garments (corsetry, bustiers etc.) followed by an internship with a couture bridal designer in Vaughn, ON where I sewed a lot of buttons but also learned a lot about what happens behind the scenes at a high-end bridal house.
After college, I worked for 10 years at one of the most longstanding bridal shops in Kitchener. Spending time as both a bridal sales consultant and seamstress inspired me to take the plunge into full time self-employment!
Now 15 years in the industry, I’ve become not only a business owner, but a wife and mom of two young boys - plus one cute, ageing furball. I work full-time as a seamstress from my home-based studio, specializing in ladies formal wear and special occasion gowns. I'd say that 95% of my clients are bridal with the rest usually being prom and pageant gowns. I love what I do and I'm so looking forward to helping you look your very best for one of the most important days of your life!
All love is welcome here.
My studio welcomes all dress wearing humans, no matter your size, gender or relationship style.
If you want to wear a dress, I want to tailor it!
